Hey all!
I'm sure your wondering what in the world a Search & Snip is. A search and snip is a great add to your hair routine so here goes.
What is a SEARCH & SNIP?
A search and snip is basically searching each strand of hair on your head and snipping off those pesky single strand knots and split ends. You literally search each strand and snip where the knot begins.
What is a SINGLE STRAND KNOT?
A single strand knot is a knot usually at the tips of hair strands. This happens when your hair gets so tangled and intertiwined that it knots around itself. They are very easy to identify. You can usually glide your fingers across a few strands of hair and feel them. They are pesky, irritating and can truly ruin a straight style. For the most part their harmless but snipping them off is crucial in keeping your strands sleek and preserving your ends and length.
Sadly, single strand knots are inevitable. Because our hair naturally curls it is bound to get intertwined around itself but there is good in all this bad info i'm giving you right now. A search and snip is one of the best ways to keep single strand knots and split ends at bay. Doing a search and snip at least once a month as part of your hair routine will help preserve the ends.
How often should I do a search and snip?
There is no set sugesstion on when to do a search and snip. As I always say, listen to your hair. Because my hair is extremely curly I tend to get knots very easily so I usually do a search and snip about once a month and it seems to be sufficient enough. Sometimes a search and snip can took up to an hour to complete, so try doing it while doing some other mindless activities like watching television. For me it's homework lol :)
What are some other ways to reduce Single Strand knots and Split Ends?
Hope this helps!
That's all Folks!

- (PS) Otherwise known as protective styling. Remember curlfriends, the ends are the oldest part of hair and should be treated with care and TLC. Some PS's are (Buns, Bantu Knots, Twist, banding, rod/roller sets) All these styles stretch the hair and keep strands straight, smooth, and sleek)
- Reduce the heat (straigtening the hair all the time will kill your hair in the long run) If your a heat head try straightening your hair on a low heat setting or using the tension method to straighten hair. I will give a scoop on the different methods of straightening in another post.
- Wear a satin bonnet or silk or satin scarve at night. If your not into all that then think about purchasing a satin pillowcase. I have one and LOVE LOVE LOVE it!
Hope this helps!
